There is chaos around every corner — we must be better!

All eyes were on Georgia on January 5th as the Senate runoff election took place. Prior to election day, a record 3 million voters had already cast their ballots before the final day of early voting on December 31, 2020.

If you are anything like me, once the polls closed, I waited in anticipation for the results. I was so excited when Raphael Warnock was announced as the winner, prevailing over Republican incumbent, Kelly Loeffler.

New and Interesting Writers

With the holidays quickly approaching, if you’re anything like me, you are extremely busy. I work full time and this is our busiest time of year, but not only that I am a full time college student so I’m nearing the end of an overwhelming semester. Oh yeah, plus I’m a single mom.

In the state of North Carolina middle and highschool age children attend in person school every other day due to Covid regulations. …

Anxiety and depression are a daily struggle.

There is a line where my truth once was
Underneath the surface is darkness
An endless abyss of nothingness
I walk the line in a delicate panic
Always in fear of what lies beneath

If my balance is slightly shifted
I plunge downward into the depths
Destitute of vision — surrounded by silence
Afraid my fragility will affirm my end
Bracing for an impact that never comes

Disregarded into this unknown obscurity
Unable to grasp onto material substance
Powerless to pull myself away
Incapable of making my voice heard
An echo into incessant ambiguity

Each time the line is crossed…

5 things to do instead of making New Year’s Resolutions.

Photo by Elijah Hiett on Unsplash

People are already thinking about their resolutions for the new year. Many have already started to plan their goals that will help to create the best 2021 imaginable. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Why do we insist on waiting for happiness as if it is something that we can truly plan — as if these mostly unattainable goals will truly make us more secure people?

The reality is this — we do not need to wait on the elusive new year to begin — we can choose to start exactly where we are in this moment.

Did you…

I am back and excited to read your stories and meet our new writers!

As many of you know, I have taken some time away from the publication for the last few weeks. For those that are not aware, I experienced a break-in at my home approximately 2 weeks before Christmas while I was at a meeting for my job a couple of hours away. Upon returning home, I found a great deal of our belongings had been stolen and several areas of our house that had property damage.

Not only did the intruders steal all of our electronics and many other household items throughout the house, they also stole all of the wrapped…

Sometimes it seems impossible to turn those lemons into lemonade-thanks to all of you, that has been much easier.

For so many people this year has been filled with an abundance of hardships. Covid has placed so much uncertainty onto our daily lives that it can be extremely daunting. It can be difficult to remain hopeful amidst all of the chaos that weighs us down and then to add in the unpredictability of a pandemic the pressure can be debilitating.

I have had a difficult time the past couple of weeks when it comes to feeling any sense of happiness with all of obstacles thrown my way. …

What does the music of your life sound like?

Photo by Charity Petras on Unsplash

Certain smells or sounds can instantly transport you back to a moment in time that you are elated to be reminded of while others may awaken memories that you would rather not visit again.

There are certain songs you may hear that serve as a guide to your past and allow you to look back on circumstances that made you the person you are today. There are a number of songs that take me back in my life — some instances bring about feelings of happiness while others are much more melancholy.

If I had to choose a song that…

I began writing on Medium on October 18th of this year and wasn’t sure what to expect when I started. Shortly after, I was invited by Quy Ma to collaborate as Co-Editor for the About Me Stories Publication and have been involved with it since. I genuinely enjoy reading all of the incredible stories published by our writers and am so glad I was offered the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing publication.

I did not join Medium for monetary reasons, but signed up to use it as an avenue to express my thoughts and opinions through…

You are appreciated more than you know!

Thank You!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the donations, shares and comments regarding the story Quy Ma shared. He offered to publish this weeks Motivational Monday article so I could spend this time focusing on myself and my boys after someone broke into our home and stole a lot of our belongings as well as all of the wrapped Christmas gifts under our tree. …
